AS A REPORTER, I SEEK TO NOTICE THE SEEMINGLY INSIGNIFICANT DETAILS IN LIFE AND UNWRAP THE STORIES THEY HOLD. IN MY EFFORTS, I AM ATTENTIVE AND GENUINE, OPEN-MINDED AND POSITIVE, DETAIL-ORIENTED AND METICULOUS, AND PASSIONATE TO REVEAL THE TRUTH.
I am a Midwesterner through and through with the hospitality of a Southerner and the work ethic of a New Yorker.
As a journalist, I am jazzed by the fact that each day is an adventure with the privilege of uncovering facts to tell others’ stories.
I believe storytelling is about the truth, characters, and details. It is wrapped in emotions and multi-faceted. I believe great reporting comes from taking the extra time to find the true crux of the story, following the end of the scavenger hunt for facts. To me, a story must be humanized to provide the audience an authentic view.
I’m currently a Multimedia Journalist and Anchor at LEX 18 News, the NBC TV affiliate in Lexington, Kentucky. The following are a few highlights:
-
I’ve covered everything from breaking state and city political news and flooding devastation to historic bourbon distilleries, multi-part investigations, Triple Crown winners, the Kentucky Derby, and University of Kentucky basketball fanatics!
-
I won an Emmy Award for my work during our station’s team’s coverage of the 2019 Kentucky Derby in Louisville, Kentucky.
-
While covering the 2020 Coronavirus, a story I reported on was picked up by CNN & MSNBC.
-
In an exclusive investigative story, I revealed the University of Kentucky sent half a million erroneous acceptance letters, a story that national news outlets quickly picked up and credited my work.
I attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, and graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism with an emphasis in Convergence Television Reporting and a minor in Business. My university studies were comprehensive and diverse and included covering a professional tennis tournament in Beijing, a semester internship for a start-up in New York City, and a summer internship for a digital and print magazine in London. I also reported, anchored, and digitally produced at KOMU 8 News, the NBC affiliate in Columbia for four years.
I chose this field with a desire to chase investigative stories and clearly relay them across an array of media mediums. I have multi-platformed technical skills as well as a keen sense of curiosity that I exercise daily. I desire to reveal stories that matter—stories that make viewers think and maybe even challenge the way they perceive topics.
When not working, you’ll find me spending quality time with friends and family, singing, playing golf, squeezing my toes in the sand while reading a book, or watching baseball, preferably the St. Louis Cardinals!
I look forward to connecting with you!
