About Fox Hill Farm
Fox Hill Farm is one of the top stables in Thoroughbred racing. Since 2005, Fox Hill Farm has campaigned one Horse of the Year, four U.S. champions, one Canadian champion, nine Eclipse finalists, two Breeders’ Cup champions, and three colts who were early or post-time Kentucky Derby favorites.

Rick and Betsy Porter

Fox Hill Farm is owned by Rick Porter, a native of Wilmington, Delaware. Rick bought his first horse in 1994 and has achieved considerable success in his relatively short time as an owner. His best horses include 2011 Horse of the Year & Eclipse Older Female Havre de Grace, 2015 Champion Two-Year-Old Filly Songbird, Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Round Pond, King’s Bishop winner and Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup Classic runner-up Hard Spun, Kentucky Derby runner-up Eight Belles, Remsen winners Rockport Harbor and Old Fashioned, Louisiana Derby winner Friesan Fire, Alabama and CCAO winner Jostle, G1 winner Joyful Victory, Lazaro Barrera winner Kentuckian, and 2009 Champion Sprinter Kodiak Kowboy. He has also campaigned a number of other graded stakes and stakes winners.

With about 35-40 horses in training, the Fox Hill Farm horses are split among a number of trainers including Larry Jones, Jerry Hollendorfer, Richard Mandella, and Jeff Runco.

An enthusiastic owner, Rick enjoys greatly the challenge of horse racing. Despite success at the highest level, Rick can be spotted in the winner’s circle of a maiden or claiming race with a wide smile that could make onlookers think it was his first win if they didn’t know better.

Rick’s love for the sport is epitomized in this website and Facebook page. Not only does he get great enjoyment by sharing racing with fans, he believes that cultivating fans is much needed in racing. Rick also believes that there are areas of improvement needed within the sport and hopes to take an active role in seeing some of these improvements to fruition.

Rick’s family includes wife Betsy, sons Cory and Scott, daughter-in-law Inci, daughter Tracey and son-in-law John, and grandchildren Tim, Rebecca, Chessie, Lindsay, Christina, and twins Ainsley and Jack. In 2012, Rick and Betsy lost at age 14 their two beloved Bichons, Babe and Daphne, but they’ll forever live on in their hearts.

Keep up with our horses!
